Alaska 404 * The Channel of Death into Alsek lake was free of ice at this time, but all the water from the Alsek River submerged under the icebergs at the point of the Knob island. The key to safety when rowing into Alsek Lake was avoiding the current that would dissintegrate a boat under the icebergs. The Knob was an amazing final campsite for the last two nights on the river. * The Channel of Death into Alsek lake was free of ice at this time, but all the water from the Alsek River submerged under the icebergs at the point of the Knob island.
